17 Months & Growing

Age: 17 months

Clothes: 18-24 months in shirts and skirts. She can still fit in 6-12 month shorts because of her skinny little waist. She typically wears a size 5 shoe, sometimes a 6 depending on the material.

Favorite Foods: bananas, watermelon, strawberries, blueberries, scrambled eggs, and pretty much every kind of food that involves dipping. She loves to dip everything into sauces or even yogurt. One or two dips is never enough. 😉 She can also eat French fries with her toes. Ha! Ella started using a fork and/or spoon to eat about a month ago and does so well with it! She sometimes turns the spoon upside down, dropping everything on the floor or her lap, but for the most part, she’s got it down. We always know when she doesn’t like something we give her because she sets in on the back of her chair for Warner to eat. Sneaky girl.

Words: Ella has been a bit stubborn in this area, but she is starting to say more and more words that catch me by surprise. Her vocabulary consists of: mama, dada, birdie, cracker “crack-kah-kah”, hello, hi, bye, meow, quack quack, drink “dink”, up, ball and even her name!! Although she isn’t talking a lot, she is extremely smart. She recognizes everything in her picture books and will point to each one when you ask.

Activities: it’s been hot outside, so her recent activities have been running around the backyard, throwing rocks, playing in her little pool and sprinkler and my iPhone! She can’t get enough of watching videos of herself and Face-timing all of my contacts. She even throws a little BIG fit if I have to take my phone from her.

Sleep: We have been very lucky in this area. Ella takes a 2 hour morning nap around 9:30 or 10:00. After lunch and playtime, she takes a 1-1.5 hour afternoon nap between 2:00 and 3:00. Ella goes down for the night between 6:30 and 7:00 p.m. and sleeps for 12 hours! This has pretty much been her sleep schedule now for a while. We aren’t quite ready to convert to only taking one nap a day since she does so well with her current schedule. In due time 😉

Favorite things: iPhone and a stuffed kitty from grandma and grandpa’s house. She throws all her dolls to the side with zero interest, but will play with the kitty forever.

Signature moves: holds my phone up to her ear and says “hewoh”. She puts lipgloss on her tongue and then rubs her lips together. Moaning while rubbing the binding on her blankie is still in full effect and I love it! She also puts her hand over her face and pretends like she’s crying if we ask her to cry. Cutest thing ever.

Mom’s proudest moment: by far my proudest moment was the day I was in the bathroom straightening my hair and Ella was playing with the toilet paper. At this point in the day, the only way for me to get anything accomplished, was to let her continue unrolling the entire thing and even putting it in the toilet. I heard her splashing and laughing, so I peaked around the corner and she was sitting inside the toilet with a huge grin on her face!
Dad’s proudest moment: Dressing her in PJs that were way too small. She could barely move in them. In the morning, her toes were poking through. They literally burst at the seams 🙂
