Oh my, 4 months old already! So much has changed in the past month. Ella is a growing ninja!
In the beginning of January, we started putting away Ella’s newborn clothing into storage tubs. It was sad to see some of her cute little ‘first’ outfits no longer fit. But at the same time, I was excited to play dress up in her 0-3 month clothes!
Ella went from newborn diapers to a size one. She’s growing so fast, I can barely keep up. She went from eating 3 oz. to 6 oz. in only two week’s time, she stands in her Joovy, sits in her bumbo, lifts her head during tummy time, rolls over (stomach to back), reaches for toys, grabs and pulls hair ;), no longer uses the newborn insert in her mamaroo, sleeps in her own room, listens when you sing to her, smiles ALL the time, coos and babbles, throws fits when she’s unhappy, giggles & even got her first two teeth!
Ryan and I had been waiting so long to hear Ella’s first laugh. It came out by surprise after her bath on Friday, February 1 when my mom (Grandma Cathie) was tickling her under her neck. It was seriously the cutest thing I’d ever heard. I will admit, I was teary eyed.
We’re so happy that Ella learned to roll over since she despised tummy time. Now that she knows she doesn’t have to stay on her stomach, she seems to enjoy it more. Ella’s first roll happened on Valentine’s day. Our little love nugget is a rolling fool!
On February 20, Ella started sleeping in her own room & took her first big girl bath (with mommy, of course). She absolutely loved splashing and kicking her legs in the water. Oh to be a baby again. As sad as I was to see Ella sleep in her room at night instead of next to our bed, I am also a bit relieved since our dog, Warner seemed to always wake her @ night. The first couple nights, I was a little obsessive with the monitor! She was just too darn cute. I love watching her sleep. She has a little purr that makes me smile every time I hear it. And the positions she sleeps in are seriously the cutest EVER. She has this new ‘sucking’ thing that she does with her arm when she’s tired. She closes her eyes, holds her forearm to her mouth and kisses/sucks. We aren’t quite sure how this soothes her, but it works like a charm.
Her new schedule is every new mom’s dream! She sleeps 12 hours!!!
Ella’s schedule @ 16 weeks:
Wakes between 4:30 and 6am, eats 6 oz. Goes back to bed immediately following her feeding. Sleeps until 8 or 8:30am. Eats @ 10:00 a.m., followed by bath time and getting her dressed for the day. Typically naps from noon-1 or 1:30. Eats @ 1:30, followed by playtime. Another hour nap and eats again @ 4:30. She usually stays awake until bedtime. We give her another bath at 7:00 p.m., feed her @ 7:30 or 7:45 and say goodnight between 7:45 and 8 p.m. We have been extremely consistent with her schedule, which I feel is so so important for mom, dad and baby.
As of February 24, Ella goes to bed between 7:15 and 7:45 p.m. – wakes between 6 and 7 a.m.!!! My very first full night’s sleep in 5 months! I would love to say, I felt refreshed, but unfortunately, I was just getting over a cold. Here’s to many more good nights!
Story time with daddy. She even tries to help hold the book.
